About
'Necessity is the mother of invention'
Following the birth of my two children, I was left with subsequent hernias which eventually required major abdominal surgery and a 12 months+ recovery.
During this time, I came to the realisation that as part of my recovery I needed a wardrobe and lingerie drawer revamp! Having always worn wires, I began searching for a more comfortable option in the world of wireless bras.
As a 34DD, this seemed to present a challenge. Most options at the time seemed limited to the standard beige/black/white, that barely provided any support and made me feel 'frumpy'. I also noticed that most were made in far away places.
And so, the concept emerged for a bra that offers support without wires, that is comfortable all day long, colourful, fun, not too frilly or too plain, ethically made for sustainability and of good quality for durability. I also wanted flattering bottoms (something else I would struggle with) that weren't tiny strings that dig in or 'granny' knickers.
These concepts evolved into designs, then with the help of a London based atelier, into prototypes and then sampling. I had visits to UK warehouses discovering treasure troves of deadstock, connected with many industry experts and did endless research, including with unsuspecting friends trying on samples to get honest feedback on fit and feel across many different shapes, ages and sizes. Then, voilà, final samples were signed off, technical drawings completed and production could start!
